'Shot in the Arm' screening
Atlantic City, N.J. 鈥 A free film screening and panel discussion on vaccine hesitancy and misinformation will take place on Friday, Oct. 24 at 番茄社区app鈥檚 Atlantic City campus.
鈥淪hot in the Arm,鈥 directed by Academy Award nominee Scott Hamilton Kennedy, examines vaccine misinformation, trust and the future of global health. The film will be screened by Stockton鈥檚 School of Health Sciences at 4 p.m. in the Fannie Lou Hamer Event Room in the John F. Scarpa Academic Building, 3711 Atlantic Ave. Refreshments will be provided.
Following the film, experts and community leaders will share insights and engage in dialogue with the audience. Dr. Paul A. Offit, the director of the Vaccine Education Center at the Children鈥檚 Hospital of Philadelphia, will appear virtually as part of the panel discussion.
Offit is the Maurice R. Hilleman Professor of Vaccinology and a Professor of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He was a voting member on the FDA鈥檚 Vaccine Advisory Committee until this year. He is also the co-inventor of the rotavirus vaccine and the author of 11 books about science, medicine and vaccines.
Jean Haspel, a nurse practitioner and HIV specialist at AtlantiCare, will be in person as part of the panel discussion, which will be moderated by Dr. Sreelekha Prakash, an associate professor of Health Science at Stockton and the president of New Jersey Public Health Association.
